  • Our Engagement...started like this...

The DAY, it was the 6th of November 2009 (Friday).

"Hey baby! Can't wait to see you! Pray you're all well today! Love you! Muacks." - This was a sms sent by Stanley dearest at 4.40pm on the DAY itself. This message content was the usual words Stan would sent to me on the Fridays where I'll be making my way home (Malaysia) for the weekend. As some of you might know, am currently working in Singapore and therefore, weekends are precious to the both of us where we get to spend some quality time together.

My flight was at 8.10pm, but at 5.45pm...I was still working on some important deck of slides for my boss. Which means, I was still in the office at that time and it would take me quite a travel distance to Changi airport by mrt. Simply means, I'm running late for the flight home!

Thank God, managed to rush to the mrt station, got on the ever-jam-packed-mrt-train at 6.05pm! Coughing and panting, added to the stressing out at work.. didn't do any good to what I was feeling that moment. Was feeling really stressed out, tired (cos I had to rush work and wasn't satisfied with the draft work), and upset. Why the feeling 'upset', its because the night before while Stan and I were chatting on the phone, I was coughing really badly and he told me this, "Dear, if you're not well and need to rest, don't have to tire yourself to come home this weekend, ok?" - Wah-lau-eh, I was totally upset at Stan for saying this because he certainly knew how badly I always wanted to be back home (no matter what!) just to see him! Even if its for a day...

With all that at hand whilst in the train, I sent a text msg to Stan to tell him what I was feeling... and this was his reply... - "We'll have a wonderful wkend k? Pray you'll be better, don't stress already :)"

That message again, seemed the most usual thing that Stan would say...as he's always loving and understanding, being the one to calm me down and to simply bring a smile back to my face .

Not a tad feel of suspicion... nothing.

    ****[after 2.5 hours...Changi to KLIA]

It was 9.10pm sharp, I was walking out of the plane and walking really quickly to the KLIA customs. Yeap, eagerly wanting to see dearest Stan!

There he picked me up and we headed off! Seeing that I was still in work clothes at that time and feeling uncomfortable, we planned to go back to my place first, get changed and then head off for our usual supper + alone time!

While in the car, I did noticed 2 things. One, he was handsomely dressed in a white shirt paired with blue jeans...which he knew I thought that looked appealing . Two, while we were chatting.. he suddenly mentioned he was on leave that very day. I was like, "Huh? How come you never tell me you were on leave? Why take leave out of sudden?"

But his reply was so valid - "Oh, mum wanted me to take care of the renovation guys that were at the house. It was a sudden thing as well, and seeing that I have a lot of leave days left...so I took leave lor..."

So, on the way back to my place...we were chatting all the way, and I was like telling him stuffs about work, how the week went.., and for a short moment as well.. I was again upset at him on another small matter. Shortly after, we arrived back at my house in Putra Heights...

****[Time was around 10.20pm-ish...at Putra Heights...]

I opened the house gates, as usual, my darling Zoe and Ziqi greeted me (my shih tzus), played with them a lil while, picked up some flyers on the floor which they have chewed on...

Didn't want to waste much time (cos both of us haven't had any dinner), I hurried up the stairs to get to my room, as usual, and Stan was following from behind with the bags...

THEN...... as I reached at the front of my door...I paused for a sec, as I felt aircon air flowing out of the room door... I was like, " Aiks, how come my room aircon is on? As usual again, my dad loves to on aircon in our rooms and leaving it on to cool the place down.." So..still didn't think anything at all...

.... I opened my room door... Stan helped to switch the room lights...and....

What a BEAUTIFUL sight it was! My entire room was decorated with roses (35 stalks = 35 Courtship months) and petals, deliberately positioned and sprinkled all over my bed, table, cupboard... being the romantic Stan, he also arranged some rose petals spelling out, "I Love () U" on my bed! I was ecstatic and totally surprised ...and went on thanking Stan non-stop, babbling on how thoughtful he is in doing all these to cheer me up! (Haha, totally ignorant of me!). Then Stan was like, "Dear, that's not it. (i think for more than 3 times he said this as I kept on babbling away...). His speech started, "Darling, you know we've been together for 3 years now......" But, being ignorant again,..I interrupted and kept on babbling, still!!!

THEN... OUT OF NOWHERE....my dearest Stan went on his knees (and I was still babbling saying, "Dear! What you doing? Why you kneeling? Get up get up!")  while holding the box with his hands, with the RING! and said the most-heart-melting-words I've always wanted to hear...

    "Cheryl, will you marry me?"

My heart melted... which made my eyes produced water like nobody's business! Yeap - I started to cry! and cried and cried and cried..while hugging him really tightly!! I was ecstatically thrilled and happy and surprised and...

And he asked again, "er...Dear, you didn't say anything yet...." Immediately, I nodded my head and said Y.E.S !

Stan took the ring out and slipped it through my finger...

Then, 5 minutes later... Serene's call came in..

Was a beautiful moment. We had a small celebration lunchie the next day...just talking away on how our night went..

    15740_1173752822981_1202853617_30480282_5226046_n

Couldn't help but smiling the entire day...our first pic after the engagement together...

Stan side of story: He took a whole hour just to form the "heart-shaped" with the rose petals. Left the aircon on to keep the roses fresh. He also bought 35 stalks of roses (Red, White & Yellow) to signify our 35 months of courtship (how sweet he is!) ... And from the story you may identify with, Stan planned on those comments deliberately just to make me feeling upset and it would so distract me for noticing anything suspicious.... (what a pro!). I love you too, dearest!

~ The best is yet to come, setting out on this journey of live together...~

  • Month of April

So typical, a blog entry once a month due to hectic schedules.

Time flies, before you even realised it... it's already the 4th month into the year.

Wondering and thinking of what lies ahead never fail to cause us unnecessary worries and uncertainties. Have learnt to take each day as it comes, always thanking God daily for His grace ever so real and loving Him even more notwithstanding circumstances...

Am into books nowadays, and have completed reading two novels in just over a month! That's a personal achievement of actually finishing a story book, eversince being in kindergarden. No joke. Bought a new 600+ pages novel recently, carrying it around is another thing... its heavy on top of already carrying my laptop and charger to work each morn...

Spent a fun weekend in Penang with dearest Stan, celebrating his grandma's birthday. Missing Stan a lot as I have not been back home for quite a long stretch... My aunt from Sweden was over my place for couple of weeks as well and managed to reach home in time from Penang to give her a big warm hug before her next visit to Malaysia.

Hope to be back this weekend as early as possible, being with the YAs, I must!

Food for thought (by my dearest Stan) -> "The grass may be greener on the other side, but not necessarily sweeter".

    xoxo
